Flying Squirrels

Flying squirrels
have a highly developed
sense of smell
allowing for easier
night foraging
as they harvest
fruits, nuts, fungi, bird eggs

Lady Liberty

I dream the perfume stand
is crumbling

It is the stand to Lady Liberty
and I see the perfume bottle to Lady Caron
a bottle embossed with our Statue of Liberty

I know we must take a stand
sometimes just being firm with who we are
Sometimes a practice, such as the horse stance or the universal pose/post.

The stand has weathered time well
good quality satin discolored only slightly
leather weathered, the construction still functional, the clasp is in place.

The marketing for Caron's Lady Caron says it is an optimistic fragrance, elegant and uplifting, that Parfums Caron founder Ernest Daltroff's spirits soared as he passed the Statue of Liberty in New York harbor, the gift from France, the home he'd just left to flee Nazi invasion.

Is our stand (personal, familial, community, national, global)
vacant of the Lady Liberty perfume?
but
well constructed, aging well, its clasp in place?
A reminder - we must stand in our selves,
Whether we are moving or making like a tree?
